Header for Council member news and update

On Tuesday night's Town Council Meeting a new Council Member took his oath and the Council voted to fill the vacant Vice Mayor position. Two council members were nominated to fill the vacant Vice Mayor position, Shontz and Genc, and after deliberation, the Mayor and Council was split in their decision. They voted 4-3 in favor of Zafer Genc to fill this seat. Cory Madoneczky took the Oath of Office to join the Parker Town Council, filling the open position. We've asked Mr. Madoneczky a few questions to help you get to know the newest Member of Council (see his answers below).

Get to know Cory Madoneczky
Tell us a bit about yourself.

My name is Cory Madoneczky. I have two daughters and a son with my fiancée, Shayla. My family moved to Parker in the early ’90s when I was about three years old. I went to school here in Parker from kindergarten through high school, graduating in 2008.

I loved my childhood here, playing baseball, soccer, and Pop Warner, and spending countless hours exploring our deserts and river. I spent nearly 15 years working in retail banking in our community, starting as a teller and eventually becoming a branch manager. During that time, I truly valued being a trusted resource for financial guidance and helping hundreds of local residents and visitors with their banking needs.

I now serve as the Director of La Paz Economic Development, working to support regional economic growth throughout the county. I also serve on several local boards, including La Paz Regional Hospital, Parker Little League, the Parker Area Historical Society, and the Parker Rotary Club.

What made you interested in running for local government?

I’ve spent almost two years serving on the Town’s Parks and Recreation Committee, and I’ve truly enjoyed working alongside my fellow members to make our parks, events, and local amenities more inviting for everyone. When the council vacancy opened, I felt it was an opportunity to further that commitment and serve our community in an even greater capacity.

What is your favorite thing about our community?

If I’m being honest, my favorite part really is the community. The friendships I’ve made here over the years have been incredible, and they’re something I’ll always be grateful for.

What is your vision for the Town of Parker in the next 3 years?

I’d love to see continued improvements to our parks, adding amenities that benefit everyone, not just our youth, but also adults and seniors by giving them more opportunities to socialize, stay active, and enjoy our community spaces. I hope our existing businesses continue to flourish, and I’d welcome new businesses, especially in our downtown area where revitalizing some of our older buildings could really brighten and modernize that business corridor. We also have a lot of opportunity in Parker South, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see that area grow with new businesses and, hopefully, additional residential development over the next few years.

Is there anything else that you want our community to know about you?

One thing I’d love to share is that I really enjoy spending time with my family, watching sports and movies, listening to music, and cooking and trying new foods. Above all, I’m truly excited for the opportunity to serve our community in this new role and to work alongside such a great team of local leaders and Town staff.
